Week 2.2

Website and Illustration concepts for Thursdays Crit:


Here is my first illustration and a very simple website concept I did, I am by no means happy with this but I think that it reflects the simple style I want to go with and a similar colour palette to what I'm thinking. 

I decided to give it a face in the end as I thought it made things a little more interesting and brought a 'character' to the scene adding a little life and excitement etc. I plan to animate this so that it looks like the water is pouring down out from the watering can and you can see the plant growing. 


Annabelle seemed to like my illustrations as well as my tutors and peers so I think I just need to keep trudging on and make heaps more!

My initial working for the main page of the HTML coding: I remembered that I wanted to create a two page website so I quickly wanted to illustrate something to represent the 'How to' Page, heres what I came up with: Unfortunately as I was a bit rushed while creating my website I didn't think to take too many screenshots while I was in the designing process and making progress, however here are the few I do have testing out different fonts and headers etc.  After playing with the header for a while and trying to make it look good, eventually I decided that I would just make two 'banner' type things which will still say the title yet will add more interest and more of the aesthetic that I want to come through in this website.  Here are the 'banner' titles I made - I think they look much more interesting than the plain old letters I had before and will grab the attention of the viewer (especially a kid).  Heres

Week 4

This week I am really just focusing on getting my illustrations done so I can start doing the motion graphics on After Effects.  Today I drew up this house which I am planning on having twice in one scene, once in a sad, polluted world with no plants, and second in a happy clean environment with lots of plants - bright colours etc. I think if I do it right this should turn out as an effective transition. Unfortunately things did not work out with my partner so will be proceeding solo and only need to do one motion graphic. Here is a tree I did which I plan on incorporating into a few of my illustrations to create the appearance of a lush, healthy earth which is what I am going for.  Here is a city I drew for the same purpose as the house, to use as a base for my transition scene where the earth is sad and then turns to happy and healthy.

Week 1.2

Here are some websites my partner and I discussed that we like the simplicity and layout of, as well as the lovely little animations included in some of them: After looking at my partners moodpboard and showing her what I came up with, I think we have a similar idea of where we want to go with this project, with a very simple style - perhaps aimed at kids?  Here is an image my partner showed me showing the style that she wanted to go towards. I was very happy with this as it was very in line with what I was thinking, and I love the pop of pastel however I think if we aim it at kids we will need to use more than just pink so that it can appeal to boys also.
